Thousands Denounce Bush, Blair and Israel's Terrorism at London Demonstration

London, UK, August 19 - Thousands of people, Muslim and non-Muslim, young and old, shia and sunni, sufi and non-sufi, men and women, from across the UK have marched through London to the US Embassy to condemn US and British foreign policy. Demonstrators sent a strong message against the continued political, economic and military interference by Western governments in the Muslim world. They also condemned western government's support for brutal dictators, military intervention in Iraq and Afghanistan and their support for Israeli aggression in the Middle East. They made it clear that these are legitimate political grievances which we will continue to speak out about. The demonstration was organised by the Islamic political party Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain.

Amongst the speakers, Massoud Shadjareh (Islamic Human Rights Commission) made it clear that the demonstrators were not against ordinary Americans, but against the colonial foreign policy of the American government, Maajid Nawaz (Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain) said that despite the provocation and immense anger Muslims in Britain rightly feel, our anger must be channelled into engaging in the Islamic political work for the re-establishment of the Caliphate in the Muslim world. Other speakers urged the demonstrators to speak to non-Muslims in order to build a strong public opinion against western government interference in the Muslim world, and the Muslim world must be left to determine its own political destiny. Other speakers included Asim Qureshi (Stop Political Terror), Taji Mustafa (Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain), Aki Nawaz (Artist and Activist), and Haji Ismail Haneef Al Hijazi (International Muslims Organisation)

Demonstrators had earlier assembled at Edgware Road Underground Station before marching to the US Embassy in Grosvenor Square via Edgware Road, where representatives and leaders of Muslim groups and community organisations delivered speeches. On Edgware Road (the heart of London’s Arab community), many Arab tourists joined the demonstration.

The Prophet sal Allahu alayhi wa'sallam said:

"The Muslim is a unique Ummah among the whole of mankind:

Their Land is ONE, their War is ONE, their Peace is ONE,

Their Honour is ONE and their Trust is ONE."
