Reciting the Quran in a week

Reciting the Quran in a week

The best remembrance of Allah is recitation of the Quran. It is mustahab (liked or praiseworthy) to recite each day however much one thinks that one is able to recite. It is preferable that one recite in a month’s time the entire Quran once, twice or three times.

Most Companions of the Prophet may Allah be pleased with them, were in the habit of reciting the entire Quran in seven nights, as follows:

* Three Surahs [Surah al-Baqarah, al-Imran, and an-Nisa along with al-Fatiha]

* Five Surahs [from Surah al-Ma’idah to Surah at-Tawbah]

* Seven Surahs [from Surah Yunus to Surah an-Nahl]

* Nine Surahs [from Surah Bani Israil to Surah al-Furqan]

* Eleven Surahs [from Surah ash-Shu’ara to Surah Yasin ]

* Thirteen Surahs [from Surah as-Saffat to Surah al-Hujarat]

* and then [from Surah al-Qaf] to the end of the Quran.

The Quran should be read with tartil slowly, with close attention to both proper pronunciation and [most preferably] the meaning too.

The Prophet sal Allahu alayhi wa'sallam said:
"The Muslim is a unique Ummah among the whole of mankind:
Their Land is ONE, their War is ONE, their Peace is ONE,
Their Honour is ONE and their Trust is ONE."
