Quotes: Relying on Allah, Tawakkul

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim

In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

"And for those who fear God, He (ever) prepares a way out, And He provides for him from (sources) he never could imagine. And if any one puts his trust in God, sufficient is (God) for him. For God will surely accomplish his purpose: verily, for all things has God appointed a due proportion."

(Surah at-Talaq 65: 2-3)

Al-Tirmithi and Ahmed narrate the Prophet (SAWS) as having said to Ibn Abbas,

'' Be mindful of Allah, and Allah will protect you. Be mindful of Allah, and you will find Him in front of you. If you ask, ask of Allah, and if you seek help, seek the help of Allah. Know that if the nations were to gather together to benefit you with anything, it would benefit you only with something that Allah had already prescribed for you, and if they gather together to harm you with anything, they would harm you only with something Allah had already prescribed for you. The pens have been lifted and the pages have dried.''

''If Allah helps you, none can overcome you; if he forsakes you, who is there after that that can help you? In Allah then, let the believers put their trust.'' ( 3:160)

Tawakkul (reliance) on Allah is: The true reliance of the heart on Allah in the pursuit of acquiring that which benefits and avoiding that which harms in this life and the hereafter and the leaving these issues up to Allah along with the true belief that no one gives, witholds, harms or benefits except Allah Most High.

The Prophet sal Allahu alayhi wa'sallam said:

"The Muslim is a unique Ummah among the whole of mankind:

Their Land is ONE, their War is ONE, their Peace is ONE,

Their Honour is ONE and their Trust is ONE."

[Ahmad]

Ibn `Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) said: When (Prophet) Ibrahim was thrown into the fire, he said: "hasbunallah wa ni3mal wakeel" (Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs.) And so did Messenger of Allah Muhammad (saaw) when he was told: "A great army of the pagans had gathered against him, so fear them". But this (warning) only increased him and the Muslims in faith and they said: "Allah is sufficient for us and He is the best disposer of affairs".
