Rohingya: Stateless and Unwanted
The plight of Rohingya Muslims
The plight of Rohingya Muslims
The burnings and looting of their houses in the villages in a number towns in Arakan are still ongoing. Murders are not exception, which has claimed thousands of lives, not to mention the cases of rapes against the Rohingya Muslimahs, in addition to those who are forced to flee to neighboring countries, who are not well received, in fact they are even driven out, all these are increasingly hurting the Muslims all over the world.
The sufferings of the Rohingya Muslims in Arakan (Rakhine) or those who have fled to neighboring countries, have not yet ended.
Some of the pictures here have been published in the pro-Rohingya media and some were published by those who have the direct connections to the sources in Arakan, and some were taken from the video in Youtube. These are just some small evidences of the violences that are taking place in Arakan. While the precise details concerning the number of casualties, the wounded and refugees of the Rohingya Muslims have not been recorded, due to the huge numbers and the limitations of information gathering.
The silence of most of the top media of the international scale on the atrocities committed against the Rohingya Muslims, is also caused by the the ignorance the outside world on the condition of Rohingya. Some of the international media that have successfully plunged into the scene, are only recording the situation at a glance, and not showing or reporting how the Muslims are massacred and their houses burned, and they are simply showing the presence of Burmese security forces who are as if seen on guard, however it was not exposed of how the security forces are jointly involved with the Buddhist Rakhine ethnics in burning the houses, arresting and murdering the Muslims. Also it was not exposed of how the thousands of lives of the Msulims have been lost as a result of the abominations committed against them and tens of thousands of them are forced to be displaced.
Direct local sources from Arakan who can still communicate with the outside world, report the actual situations that happen through their relatives, friends or the pro-Rohingya media, despite the limitations in ability to collect detailed information. What can be reported, are only a small portion, which simply represents that atrocities against Muslims are truly happening in Myanmar.
The Muslims who are being persecuted presently in Arakan, are really in a very saddening state, helpless, only hoping for the help from Allah, with the hope that Allah would send them people who would help them, especially people from the Muslim community of the world who have the ability.
Is it really so difficult for those who have the ability to help the Rohingya Muslims? Do we need to await for the result or investigation by Burma or the UN? The Rohingya Muslims are not illegal immigrants in Arakan, they should receive the protection from the international bodies that claim to uphold the 'Law and Basic Human Rights!' that they always carry around. 1. Summary
6 ships carrying 10,000 tones of aid with 700 passengers came under fire by Israeli forces in the early hours of the morning. The commandos forcefully took control of the ships and opened fire when they met passive non-violent resistance from the Activists. 20 people are said to have been killed and hundreds more injured.
2. Background
The United Nations estimates that less than a quarter of the required aid for the Palestinian people reaches them as a result of the humanitarian blockade imposed by Israel. The flotilla of ships carried the much needed aid to the Palestinians in an attempt to alleviate their sufferings. The aid includes 5000 tonnes of food, reconstruction materials, school supplies and medical equipment.
The flotilla carrying 10,000 tonnes of aid were heading towards Gaza when they were fired on by Israeli forces.
Volunteers came from 60 countries and included 27 British citizens and humanitarians from Ireland, America, Greece, Kuwait, Turkey, Belgium and elsewhere around the globe. The Israeli helicopters were said to have fired on the ships before deploying their commandos on the deck of the ships. The activists attempted passive resistance to the commandos who then opened fire on the innocent, unarmed men, women and children. The attack on the flotilla took place in international waters and is illegal and an act of piracy according to international law.
20 people have been confirmed dead in this massacre and hundreds more injured. It is been reported that Raed Salah Head of Islamic Movement in Israel has been killed and Al Jazeera correspondent Jamal el Shayyal is missing since he last reported on the situation on Mavi Marmara.
IHRC urges countries to expel their Israeli ambassadors, cut all military and economic relations with Israel and support the boycott, divestment and sanction movement. IHRC is also disappointed at the lack of strong condemnation from the international community and the UN as there cannot be any excuse for armed forces opening fire on unarmed civilians.

Dear Mr Hague,
Re: Israeli commandos open fire on Gaza aid ships
I am absolutely outraged at the recent attack and killings of unarmed civilian men, women and children aboard the Flotilla.

I urge you to cut all military and economic ties with Israel as well as expel the Israeli ambassador. You have a responsibility to ensure that international law is respected and unlawful killing is prevented. Israel needs to a hear a strong and uncompromising message from the international community that its crimes against humanity will not be tolerated.
I look forward to hearing back from regarding these urgent matters.
Yours sincerely,

Schools allowed to ban face veils
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
| Teachers need to be able to see pupils' faces, the DfES says |
It says efforts must be made to accommodate religious clothing, but stresses the importance of teachers and pupils being able to make eye contact.
It comes after a girl failed in a legal bid to overturn her school's niqab ban.
Islamic groups have been divided in their response - some "shocked" and others welcoming the guidance.
Headteachers' leaders have applauded the decision, saying that it would provide "clarity" and "reassurance" for schools.
It's not right that schools should have to be arguing this out case by case
Veil court case school
The issue of religious dress has become an increasingly complicated one for schools in recent years, with a handful of high profile court cases over the right to wear a full veil.
A court victory by a Buckinghamshire school (which cannot be named for legal reasons) has prompted the updated guidance.
The school argued the veil made communication between teachers and pupils difficult and thus hampered learning.
Teachers needed to be able to tell if a pupil was enthusiastic, paying attention or even distressed but full-face veils prevented this, it said.
This position was upheld by the High Court - which refused to grant a judicial review - and is expected to form a key part of the guidance.
'Consult parents'
The guidance says schools need to be able to identify individual pupils in order to maintain good order and spot intruders.
"If a pupil's face is obscured for any reason the teacher may not be able to judge their engagement with learning or secure their participation in discussions and practical activities," it adds.
Schools minister Jim Knight said: "Schools should consult parents and the wider community when setting uniform policy.
"And while they should make every effort to accommodate social, religious or medical requirements of individual pupils, the needs of safety, security and effective learning in the school must always take precedence."
The head teacher of the Buckinghamshire school, who also cannot be named, said it would be very useful to have some clear guidance from the Department for Education and Skills (DfES).
"It's not right that schools should have to be arguing this out case by case," she told the BBC News website.
"Obviously there's a trade-off between schools retaining autonomy over school uniform decisions, on the other hand we will have some very clear guidance from the DfES within which to work."
'Dismayed'
There were divided responses from the Muslim community.
The chairman of the Islamic Human Rights Commission, Massoud Shadjareh, said he was "dismayed" by the DfES guidance.
"Successive ministers dealing with education issues have failed to give proper guidance when requested by human rights campaigners about schools' obligations regarding religious dress, including the head scarf.
"To now proceed to issue guidance against Muslim communities is simply shocking," he said.
But the Muslim Council of Britain's education spokesman, Tahir Alam, said that the new guidance did not "alter the position very much" and said "the vast majority of schools are able to solve these issues locally".
Dr Tag Hargey of the Muslim Education Centre welcomed the guidance.
"When you conceal the face, that actually not only dehumanises the person involved, but also creates a chasm, a gap, a bridge of non-understanding between communities and I think the sooner we can get rid of this veil, this face veiling, this face masking in Muslim societies across Britain, so much the better."
'Equality issue'
Ayshah Ishmael, a teacher at a Muslim girls' school in Preston who wears the niqab away from the classroom, told the BBC wearing the veil promoted equality.
She said: "You're judged for who you are and not what you are, so I think there are two arguments to the whole equality issue."
The DfES said it was not ordering or advising head teachers to ban the veil, simply confirming that they have the ability to do so if they wish, so long as they carry out proper consultation.
Association of School and College Leaders' general secretary Dr John Dunford said he was pleased the government is supporting school leaders in upholding school uniforms.
"Repeated and blatant breaches of uniform policy undermine the school ethos," he added.

Anwar al-Awlaki imprisoned!
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Anwar al-Awlaki imprisoned!!
"Their intention is to extinguish Allah's Light (by blowing) with their mouths: But Allah will complete (the revelation of) His Light, even though the Unbelievers may detest (it).
(Surah 61:8)
| Name: | Anwar Al Awlaki |
| Nationality: | US |
| Residence: | Yemen |
| Marital Status: | Married |
| Date of Arrest: | 31/08/2006 |
| Location of Arrest: | Sana'a, Yemen |
|
|
Background:
Anwar al-Awlaki is a Muslim scholar who was born in New Mexico. His parents are from Yemen, where he lived for eleven years and received the early part of his Islamic education.
Imam Anwar al-Awlaki served as an Imam in Colorado, California, and later in the Washington, D.C. area where he headed the Dar Al-Hijrah Islamic Center and was also the Muslim Chaplain at George Washington University. Currently he resides in Yemen, where he was studying Shariah with prominent scholars, as he was banned from re-entering the United States despite being a U.S. citizen. He holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Colorado State University, a M.A. in Education Leadership from San Diego State University and was working on a Doctorate degree in Human Resource Development at George Washington University being denied entry into the U.S. He authored many popular audio series including the "Lives of the Prophets", "The Hereafter" and "The Life of Muhammad".
In the early hours of October 17, a Yemeni secret police raid swept up eight foreigners living in Sana'a, under surveillance by the CIA and British intelligence, and at least 12 other men across Yemen. Yemeni authorities insist they dismantled an al-Qa'ida cell and disrupted a gun-running ring to neighbouring Somalia.
It was subsequently reported that the key to the raids was Anwar Al Awlaki (identified in the media as 'Abu Atiq') who was arrested six weeks before the October 17 swoop. Media reports allege that 'Abu Atiq' was an associate of two of the September 11 hijackers and a protege of Abdul al-Majid al-Zindani, who the US wants arrested on terror charges. They also make mention of his alleged role in a foiled al-Qa'ida plot to bomb oil and gas facilities in Yemen.
He is believed to be held in Central Security Prison in Sana'a. Locals in Sanaa insist, perhaps apocryphally, that the two stories of the complex above ground sit atop eight stories underground, where torture rooms and darkened cells are often used. Whether or not people are tortured here, Western officials and aid groups are adamant that torture is regularly used in Yemen on terror suspects, or political prisoners.

Unequal and opposite overreaction
Unequal and opposite overreaction
There is a maxim that could be applied to many of Israel's responses to events in the region: 'for every action there is an unequal and opposite overreaction'. This phrase was applicable for the 1978 and the 1982 invasions of Lebanon, as well as the bombing of Lebanon in 1996 and many other Zionist operations. It could be used for the bulldozing of entire Arab neighbourhoods by way of retribution. It could be used for the building of a massive wall, or the blockading and starving the Muslims of Gaza. But what we have seen over the last two weeks seems to be beyond overreaction. The terms bandied about such as "disproportionate force" seem to be so inadequate, when describing of the death and destruction that the Jewish state has unleashed in Lebanon and Gaza.
In terms of lives lost, hundreds of innocent civilian women and children have been killed as a result of the Israeli bombing of Lebanon. In terms of infrastructure countless houses have been flattened, scores of bridges destroyed and hundreds of highways made impassable. These were targeted to cause maximum disruption to normal communal existence. These actions act as an adjunct to the more immediate misery caused by the death and injury. Further to this; factories and hospitals were hit, airports and fuel depots were destroyed and even the HQ of the Liban-Lait milk factory was demolished. Israel boosts of its ability to perform precision bombing of military targets, thus minimising "collateral damage". If Israel has the ability to hit objects and not people why have the Jews killed so many innocent civilians? The answer is they are purposely targeting Gentile civilians as a form of collective punishment for the capture of two of their Jewish soldiers.
All this, and more, has been performed in the name of self-defence and with the blessing of the UK and US. This week the British prime minister gave his full support to the actions of the Jewish warlords: Olmert, Peretz, and Hulutz. Further he condemned the resistance put up by the Muslims of Lebanon. The New Labour UK government is merely following an old British tradition of supporting Israel. It was they that connived during WWI to create the Jewish state and destroy Islamic political unity in the Middle East in the first instance. Between the wars they brought into reality a settler state of Europeans at the expense of those that were living in the Holy Lands at the time. It was actually Anglo-French and Anglo-Zionist backroom agreements that forged the political entities that are the so-called troubles spots of the world today; Lebanon, Iraq, Palestine and Jordan etc. International bodies such as the UN have also lined up behind Blair to support the actions of Israel. Terje Roed-Larsen, the UN's envoy to the Middle East, declared this week that he agreed with Israel that the conditions were not ripe for a ceasefire. Kofi Anan, the UN's secretary general, waited for nine days of bombing to pass before making a statement on the issue. He may have mentioned Israel's "excessive use of force", but this was coupled with a condemnation of the actions of the South Lebanese Muslims. These two characters should be well-versed enough in the conventions of Geneva to know that the deliberate targeting of civilians is a war crime. It is their job to, not only point this out, but to do something about it. However from our point of view we do not particularly care what is stated in their job descriptions. Kofi Anan and Terje Roed-Larsen are not there to help us. Their track record of actually contributing to Muslim suffering is well documented.
It is clear that the UK and US will not help us. It is clear that the UN can not help us. Frankly we don't want or care for their assistance. They are the criminals that supported Israel since its birth. So why should we be naأ¯ve enough to seek their help. What is also clear is that the spineless governments of Islamic World have no intension of helping us. It is at times like these that we should realise that we can not rely on any of the corrupt kufr bodies and organisations to protect us. We need to rely on Allah (swt) and the way of Rasool-Allah (Sallallahu alaihi wassalam), to get us out of this dire situation.
As for the issue of disproportional responses to situations, it seems that this is a trend when it comes to dealing with Muslims. The Israelis do not have the monopoly on over-reaction. The allied forces have killed thousands of Muslims in Mesopotamia in response to some sabre rattling from a corrupt cowardly Ba'athist regime. Similarly a confederation killed tens of thousands of Muslims in Afghanistan as retribution for a disputed number of deaths in New York in an incident in the autumn of 2001. Melodrama and overreaction are common behaviours for the US, the UK and the Israelis. However for us it is not mere melodrama. What is point scoring for them is pain and suffering for us.
