The Quran And You

- Uthman Ibn Affan said that the way to get closer to Allah was by the Words of Allah (Quran)

- We are more in need of Allah than we are of food and drink.

- The Quran describes itself as: Healing, Light, Huda (Guidance)

- The last greatest Miracle sent to humanity

- Ahlal Quran: The Ppl of the Quran are the people of Allah SWT [Hadith]

- We meet Allah according to the people we were.

- An e.g. found in story of Abdullah ibn Mubarak, Ulama of Ummah, he was travelling in a desert and found an old woman, he said As'salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barkatuhu. She replied with verses of Quran. Every time she would reply with Quranic Ayat. He got frustrated and said why are you talking like this, and she said if this Quran was sent to a mountain it would crumble. He travelled with her, she had 3 son's called Nuh,.....they served him food and were very generous. She had only spoken Quran for 40 yrs! Ibn Jawzee commented that the usage of Quran in such a way is Makruh, but take a lesson from it how her relationship was with Quran.

- [Quran] The Companions of the Prophet are like a seed and the stills that come out of it are the Sahabahs, they were nourished by the Prophet SAWS.

-1. Tries to create a balance: Thus we have made you a balanced nation [2:143] (right in the middle of Surah al-Baqarah)

Surah Al Isra: Glory be to the One who took his servant from the masjid in Makkah to Masjidul Aqsa.

(Duty to speak about what is happening in Palestine.)

Here Allah SWT refers to the Prophet as His Abdihi, Servant. Imam Al Qurtubi said it indicates that this is the most noble name for the Prophet SAWS.

Three places Allah uses the word ABD

1. Ilm: Only those who Fear Allah are those who have knowledge

2. Spirituality: Surah Saffat- Ibrahim had sound heart, and a servant of Allah

3. Activism: Suratul Furqan: And the Servants of Ar-Rahman are those who walk with humbleness.

So we need all aspects.

Our relationship with worship.

If the eye is sick and looks at something, do not blame the thing, but blame the eye. Just like our hearts and how we are with Ibadah.

* As-Salah - Praise be to Allah the Originator of the Heavens and th earth, and made Messengers/Angels and gave them wings, 2, 3, 4 wings.

Just as Allah has given the Angels 2, 3, 4 wings, we get closer to Allah by doing the 2, 3, 4, Rakats Allah has given us.

* Dua - Verse was revealed. "When my servant asks of him I am close to him by my knowledge."

Dua's in Quran start with Rabbana (Our Lord), Allah has shown us that Ya is not used, Ya is used when calling someone....yet Allah is so close to us we don't have to do that.

Usually in Quran appears in plural form, Our Lord, to remind us about the unity of Ummah.

Musa AS was so overcome that he said, Ya Allah make me of the nation of Muhammad SAWS. (70, 000 will enter Jannah without accounting, 5 prayers = 50)

Practical advice:

1. Schedule for Quran

2. If I have family schedule weekly halaqa. (Chidren love listening to stories, tell them about the stories in the Quran.)

3. Establish as a community halaqah for Quran

4. Learn Quran with Tajweed

May Allah make the Salah the sweetness of our eyes, as this was the most beloeved thing to the Prophet SAWS. May Allah make the Quran the sweetness of our eyes. Increase our Imaan and make us of Ahlal Quran. Ameen.

Discussion/Q and A

*"Often we read the qur'an regularly but we don't feel that spiritual connection with it? Why is this?"

A) Don't get high from Ibadah. Dnt expect this high rather the reward of Allah and for the Pleasure of Allah.

A) Recite Quran and do your best, those who struggles to read Quran gets double reward.

A)

1. Nothing can give light to the heart than Dhikr- Quran is best dhikr.

2. Give charity

* What is the definition of "Moderateism" in the light of Quran ?

A) 1. Allah forbids us to be extreme, to be free from this is to follw Sunnah.

2. To be safe follow majority of Ummah- Orthodox Ulama

2. And ask, ask Allah to be on siratul mustaqeem.

1- The Prophet ate, slept and also married, did not always fast, or stay up all night, nor abstained from getting married.

2- Go back to correct understanding of text, you can't just repeat things and gain understanding.

3- Make dua to Allah.

* How do you cleanse your heart when you do not think that Allah swt loves you? or you think that your Salah isnt accepted?

There's no doubt Allah loves us, He gave us so many bounties; our eyes, ears. Know Allah is there for us, He will forgive us, the most ready to accept our repentance. Whispers of shaytan that we are not loved by Allah SWT.

(Please bear in mind I may have mistakes in my notes and may have missed out quite a bit [especially on Q and A])
