Unequal and opposite overreaction
uploaded 25 Jul 2006
There is a maxim that could be applied to many of Israel's responses to events in the region: 'for every action there is an unequal and opposite overreaction'. This phrase was applicable for the 1978 and the 1982 invasions of Lebanon, as well as the bombing of Lebanon in 1996 and many other Zionist operations. It could be used for the bulldozing of entire Arab neighbourhoods by way of retribution. It could be used for the building of a massive wall, or the blockading and starving the Muslims of Gaza. But what we have seen over the last two weeks seems to be beyond overreaction. The terms bandied about such as "disproportionate force" seem to be so inadequate, when describing of the death and destruction that the Jewish state has unleashed in Lebanon and Gaza.
In terms of lives lost, hundreds of innocent civilian women and children have been killed as a result of the Israeli bombing of Lebanon. In terms of infrastructure countless houses have been flattened, scores of bridges destroyed and hundreds of highways made impassable. These were targeted to cause maximum disruption to normal communal existence. These actions act as an adjunct to the more immediate misery caused by the death and injury. Further to this; factories and hospitals were hit, airports and fuel depots were destroyed and even the HQ of the Liban-Lait milk factory was demolished. Israel boosts of its ability to perform precision bombing of military targets, thus minimising "collateral damage". If Israel has the ability to hit objects and not people why have the Jews killed so many innocent civilians? The answer is they are purposely targeting Gentile civilians as a form of collective punishment for the capture of two of their Jewish soldiers.
All this, and more, has been performed in the name of self-defence and with the blessing of the UK and US. This week the British prime minister gave his full support to the actions of the Jewish warlords: Olmert, Peretz, and Hulutz. Further he condemned the resistance put up by the Muslims of Lebanon. The New Labour UK government is merely following an old British tradition of supporting Israel. It was they that connived during WWI to create the Jewish state and destroy Islamic political unity in the Middle East in the first instance. Between the wars they brought into reality a settler state of Europeans at the expense of those that were living in the Holy Lands at the time. It was actually Anglo-French and Anglo-Zionist backroom agreements that forged the political entities that are the so-called troubles spots of the world today; Lebanon, Iraq, Palestine and Jordan etc. International bodies such as the UN have also lined up behind Blair to support the actions of Israel. Terje Roed-Larsen, the UN's envoy to the Middle East, declared this week that he agreed with Israel that the conditions were not ripe for a ceasefire. Kofi Anan, the UN's secretary general, waited for nine days of bombing to pass before making a statement on the issue. He may have mentioned Israel's "excessive use of force", but this was coupled with a condemnation of the actions of the South Lebanese Muslims. These two characters should be well-versed enough in the conventions of Geneva to know that the deliberate targeting of civilians is a war crime. It is their job to, not only point this out, but to do something about it. However from our point of view we do not particularly care what is stated in their job descriptions. Kofi Anan and Terje Roed-Larsen are not there to help us. Their track record of actually contributing to Muslim suffering is well documented.
It is clear that the UK and US will not help us. It is clear that the UN can not help us. Frankly we don't want or care for their assistance. They are the criminals that supported Israel since its birth. So why should we be naأ¯ve enough to seek their help. What is also clear is that the spineless governments of Islamic World have no intension of helping us. It is at times like these that we should realise that we can not rely on any of the corrupt kufr bodies and organisations to protect us. We need to rely on Allah (swt) and the way of Rasool-Allah (Sallallahu alaihi wassalam), to get us out of this dire situation.
As for the issue of disproportional responses to situations, it seems that this is a trend when it comes to dealing with Muslims. The Israelis do not have the monopoly on over-reaction. The allied forces have killed thousands of Muslims in Mesopotamia in response to some sabre rattling from a corrupt cowardly Ba'athist regime. Similarly a confederation killed tens of thousands of Muslims in Afghanistan as retribution for a disputed number of deaths in New York in an incident in the autumn of 2001. Melodrama and overreaction are common behaviours for the US, the UK and the Israelis. However for us it is not mere melodrama. What is point scoring for them is pain and suffering for us.
